The bell rang
and the next moment,
the canteen was flooded
with a sea of red.
Students and teachers gathered
with their clique,
chatting and laughing away
without any language barriers.
It was a rare sight to come upon
students rushing the pen on their scripts.
For once a day we saw,
smiles on the usual strict teachers' faces.
As time passes by,
the red slowly recedes.
For it was time to go
back to classes for classes.
and the next moment,
the canteen was flooded

First stanza: Students rushes into the canteen as soon as "The bell rang", thus flooding the canteen "with a sea of red" due to Zhenghua's red uniform. Stanza 1 also shows us that the students were anxious to go for recess as by "the next moment" after "the bell rang", "the canteen was flooded".
Stanza 2 shows us that be it students or teachers, they all have their pesonal life as they have their own friends as they "gathered/with their clique/chatting and laughing away".
"Without any language barriers" in this case may mean either they were all gathered in just purely with their own race and thus they can speak freely in their mother tongue language or that they were in groups of mixed races, however, were all able to communicate in english without any difficulty.
Stanza 3 shows that it was uncommon to see students doing their homework in the canteen during recess time as "rare sight to come upon/students rushing the pen on their scripts" and recess was normally time for students to relax. "For once a day we saw,/smiles on the usual strict teachers' faces" shows that teachers enjoy their break as well as they normally have to be strict in class and it was the only time when they can let go.
Stana 4 shows that the students which are represented by "red", "slowly recedes" back to their classes as their recess "time passes by" which means that their recess was coming to an end for their lessons.
Vivid imagery, good choice of words. Great use of metaphors too! Also, I can see whereby the change of in atmosphere whereby "sea of red" came rushing into the canteen and then at the end the "red slowly recedes".
