A song lyrics by one rock/pop/punk boyband,Good Charlotte,Tittled Hold On. I didnt really copy & paste the lyrics as it is really long especially the chorus,so I cut some of them off.But the main points are pasted here.By the way, I cant seem to put the song up.But nevermine, lyrics counts more than the beats yeah?:]
This world
This world is cold
But you don't
You don't have to go
You're feeling sad,
you're feeling lonely,
and no one seems to care
You're mother's gone
and your father hits you
This pain you cannot bear
But we all bleed the same way as you do
And we all have the same things to go through
Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Your days
You say they're way too long
And your nights
You can't sleep at all
Hold on
And you're not sure what you're waiting for, but you don't want to no more
And you're not sure what you're looking for, but you don't want to no more
Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Don't stop looking, you're one step closer
Don't stop searching, it's not over
Hold on if you feel like letting go
Hold on it gets better than you know
Hold on

Note the use of repetitive words like what we have learnt through the poem, 'Colleen'. Can you spot the repetitive phrases in this song? Clue: 'Don't stop'. There are three more rather obvious but meaningful words that are repeated. What is the impact of repeating certain words/phrases (in this song) on the listener/reader? Think about it. Feel free to comment! =)
Two words that are repeated in the poem are certainly: 'Hold On', 'This World'. Well, the impact of repeating these words is to reach out to the readers about the speaker's life and hurt. There's a mix of loss and sadness too in the poem but despite everything, the speaker is trying his best to 'hold on' and not letting things pass him by. He is trying to be strong and not trying to show that he's weak.
Very meaningful song!
'Hold on' is repeated many times which shows us that no matter how tough the going gets, we should persevere on as the tough gets going.
Words like "cold" and "go", "care" and "bear", "do" and "through", "go" and "know", "closer" and "over" are words that rhyme.
This song is telling us not to giving up despite failures. It is telling us to hold on to the last minute and keep trying [:
this poem/song shows a positive tone in showing its perserverance and 'hold on' to that strength to overcome all odds. i also feel that this poem indirectly shows the poet releasing his anger in the poem.
this poem talks about perserverence in life, about how one should not give up even though they are very tired. Also the line 'but we all bleed the same way as you do/and we all have thesame things to go through' trieds to tell the listener/reader that they are not alone, and there is always someone out there that has experienced the same things. this is a very inspriational song about not giving up. =)
Well done, people!!! =)))
Thanks, Annie, for quoting the rhyming words.
Does anyone feel any connection/relationship between each rhyming set, e.g. "care" and "bear"? Doesn't it seem to emphasise burden and weight? Remember what we discussed in class about how rhyming words emphasise certain things? =) Anyone care to take no this challenge?
Asidah's here. I agree with Azyan. This poem shows a positive tone. Also, it uses repitition such as 'hold on' to show that they are trying to perservere no matter no what. Nice lyrics, by the way.
The words like Annie had quoted does emphasises on how the poet reacts whereby it is to "hold on" and fight those obstacles in life.

i think the lyrics shows feelings of sadness. the world becomes 'cold' and your father hits u the moment your mother is not around to protect you. even if the days feel like its too long, things will eventually get better if you hold on.
