The school life and a quiet observation
In the little corner,
The still air hangs
Heated with the seasons,
relaxed and a mess.
In that little corner.
I could hear the voices.
loud, soft, indistinguishable.
a low treble tone, a pitched melody resounds.
Melting in, mixing together,
The roar was deafening, yet soft.
In the isolated corner,
where dusty pictures hung,
with dirty benches and not much people around.
Yet in the calm,
there was a sense of chaos,
scraping of chairs and the teacher's shouts,
It was a balance,
a scale - without sound.
It invokes a sense of thoughtfulness,
Even a reluctant curiosity,
As I stare across to the other end,
I saw life around me.
The inquisitive looks, I smile;
were from people all around,
Yes, I was just a lone girl sitting about,
But I knew it was just curiosity,
we all had it - oh well.
The crackling of papers interrupted my thoughts,
As the snuffling of shoes caught my attention,
A flow, a rush,
a flood of students,
The disturbance, the chaos
It was one I would remember.
Upon occasion I witness
disruptive disbehaviour,
A normal occurance to me,
one I, well, hold dear.
It was school life,
present in everyone's memories,
That was part of the charm,
A doorway as always.

In the first paragraph, the poet describes the atmosphere as stuffy as "the still air hangs", "Heated with the seasons" would probably show us that it was quite warm on that day.
In the fourth paragraph, the poet uses irony as "Yet in the calm, there was a sense of chaos". This is an irony as since it was calm, how can there be chaos? However, the poet uses this irony to show that in the peaceful enviroment, there was alot of disturbance due to the "scraping of chairs and the teacher's shouts".
This poem is about the surrounding in 'school life'. The poet uses its senses to describe about its surroundings. For example,
'sense of chaos','sense of thoughtfulness'. The poet also uses diction and literally words to describe more of its surroundings. As a reder, i could feel or imagine what the poet felt.
I found the poem very nostalgic,"present in everyone's memories" & "A doorway as always".
This actually reflects that the poet actually remembers what was always there as she experienced what she had always seen before. Also this is a form of flashback.
The poet actually uses one of her five senses which is of course the sight. While she quietly observed the surroundings, she realised the different varieties of atmosphere around her,"there was a sense of chaos" & "The roar was deafening, yet soft". As she observed, she wrote in a form of imagery & this again depicts the use of another literary devices.
Also using other devices such as end-stopped lines," where dusty pictures hung,
" and repetition,"corner".Again this probably evokes a sense of longing for the school surroundings.
In this poem, the poet talks about the contrasts that happen in the school ,'loud, soft' 'relax and a mess'.
Some how the poet sees things in an entirely new perspective, as if for the first time stopping to really look. the run on line, as i stare across to the other end/ i saw life around me' shows this, seemingly to imply that the poet had never before really understood what she was looking at.
the atmostphere of the poem is perhaps a feeling of being in a bubble, as if time had stopped for the poet at that instant, allowing the poet to look around at her enviroment.
the ambiguity of the poem is what allows the poet to make the readers think, to make them remember school life. ' a doorway as always' perhaps meant that it was always there, those memories.
This poem is talking about an observation done by a student. The poet describes about the things she see, the sounds she hear and how she feel.
The poet uses irony in stanza 3, "The roar was deafening, yet soft" and in stanza 4, "Yet in the calm, there was a sense of chaos".
I don't know wat to comment already ! :P
The poet uses contrast. E.g: The roar was deafening, yet soft, and 'yet in the calm, there was a sense of chaos. The poet also uses typographical techniques like different line lengths: sometimes long and sometimes short.
This poem is about a girl who is observing the surroundings and people around her, in other words, "people-watching". I can see that the poet is touching on a theme of perspective and contrast in which from the poem, "the lone girl sitting about" got "inquisitive looks" around her but yet she "smile". Also, the poet also uses alliteration in her poem. For instance, "Melting in, mixing together" to emphasise on the actions that was taking place around her is real. Plus, the poet also makes uses of rhythm in her poem in which there are certain stresses which is produced as you read along the poem. Also, the rhyme that the poem uses is in which in Stanza 5, the poet rhymed the words "curiosity" and "me" so as to coordinate and link the word "curiosity" to herself.
I noticed the the poet is making use of the setting as the poet wrote 'In the isolated corner, where dusty pictures hung'.Thus the poet is able make use of the surrounding to evoke the readers a sense of loneliness.Especially when the poet described the place as 'isoslated'.
The poet touch on themes such as 'school life' and memories, this can be seen as the poet describe'It was one I would remember.' Probably to show the readers that it has a special meaning for he/her.
He/she describes the surroundings and atmosphere by using the five senses, mostly the sight.
The poet uses irony such as 'The roar was deafening, yet soft.' to show the contrast on the atmosphere. Example, 'scraping of chairs and the teacher's shouts,' but at the same to show a balance;
'without sound.'
